I. BACKGROUND

 

Southeast Asia has long been the important customer market of China’s inbound tourism, while Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines ranking top 10 among the tourist countries for a long time. Due to the adjacent geographic locations and Chinese abundant and unique tourism resource, Southeast Asian tourists are highly willing to revisit China. However, Southeast Asia’s back-pack tour and niche tour market are making progress gradually these years, the existing Chinese traditional tourism products are out of the local needs of those markets now. So a reformation of those products is urgently needed. The 2017 Most Beautiful China Tourism Route Design Competition targets at listening to the voices of tourists from Southeast Asia, and collecting advices and creativity from the folks. In which way, both Chinese and Southeast Asian tourism industry could improve their products in the view of Southeast Asian tourists and inject new life to their domestic markets.

 

II. INSTITUTION

Adviser: Cultural Office, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Singapore

 

Organizer: China National Tourist Office in Singapore

 

Implementer: Jeffery Technology & Adventure

 

Committee of Experts: Invite specialists of tourism from both China and Southeast Asia to form up a committee of experts, which will take the responsibilities of guiding participants to do some pre-competition preparation, and judging the entries as well.

 

 

III. THEME

 

Participants should revolve around the topic—Imaginative China & Creative Tour to explore and integrate Chinese tourism resources and culture, so as to work out an Extraordinary Tourism Route to China.

 

IV. DATES

 

The competition will be hold from Mar. to May. 2017

 

V. REQUIREMENTS

 

All the entries should be in line with the following rules:

 

a.       Tourism routes should be closely related to imaginative tour to China;

 

b.      Cross-border routes could be accepted, but the major destinations of your tour should be villages or towns of mainland China;

 

c.       There are no other restrictions on your choices of the specific destinations and travelling duration;

 

d.      Your works should be innovative, creative, and profound, so as to distinguish itself from those traditional tourism routes;

 

e.       It is highly appreciated if you could describe your travel routes, daily activities, reasons for choosing that, and travel expenses as detailed as possible

 

f.       Your design and creativity can be presented in the form of words, pictures, videos, etc. The languages should be Chinese or English.

 

 

VI. WAYS TO PARTICIPATE

 

a.       Firstly, participants could enroll for this competition online through China National Tourist Office’s official website, official accounts of WECHAT or FACEBOOK;

 

b.      Then, e-mail your application forms and entries to competition committee: tourism.cntosg@jeffery.asia before 23:59 Apr. 20th. 2017.

VII. PARTICIPANTS

 

Residents from Southeast Asia: could participate individually or as a group. Each individual/group can hand in more than one entry;

 

 

VIII. COMPETITION PROCEDURE

 

a.       20th April: Deadline for preliminary contest works delivery;

 

b.      Mid-April: Competition committee will select 100 excellent works to go on to the next stage—online voting;

 

c.       Mid-April: After online voting, the top 30 routes will be able to participate the finals;

 

d.      Late-April: The list of honors and awards will be selected by the committee of experts;

 

e.       Mid-May: Top 30 creative tourism routes will be presented at “Beautiful China—Ice & Snow Tourism” Promotional Campaign, and awarded on the spot at the same time.

 

 

IX. JUDGING CRITERIA

 

Excellent works should be in line with the following criteria:

 

a.       Marketability—it should not only be creative, but also accord with the needs of the market, which means that it is worth to be promoted to the market;

 

b.      Creativity—theme of the work should be clear and creative enough. More importantly, participants should explore and integrate Chinese tourism resources and culture in the view of tourists of Southeast Asia;

 

c.       Involvement—the tourism route design should have great functions of involvement and participation;

 

d.      Contemporaneity—it should have distinct characteristics of contemporary society, so as to unfold the new features of Chinese tourism before the public’s eyes;

 

e.       Economical efficiency—it should accord with the power of consumption of specific Southeast Asian;

 

f.       Security—the routes chosen and design must be safe and secure.
